How many major installments are you planning in the Animus Proxy universe?

I’m definitely planning a whole series of installments in the Animus Proxy books.

Right now, I’m working out how they’ll all tie together and how each one will explore meaningful aspects of the universe — so that readers get something of value, something that feels distinct from the others but still part of the same world.

Are you planning side stories or spin-offs (like short stories or novellas)?

Yes — short stories and novellas are currently in the works.

We’re just figuring out the best way to approach them, including how to promote and distribute them in a way that complements the core series.

Will readers ever get to see more of Shintoh after Halcyon?

Yes, we’ll return to Shintoh later in the series — possibly in different forms, depending on the events that unfold following the first book.

Are you planning a prequel that explores the collapse of the old world order?

Yes — that’s something that’s been explored and hinted at already.

The current working title for that book is Prolegomenon.
It would directly explore the origin of the collapse of the old order and the long-term consequences that have shaped the world of Animus Proxy.

How will the role of AI change over the course of the series?

AI will continue to play a major role as a guiding — and often ambiguous — force.

You’ll always be wondering:
Where is it coming from? Who is it working for? What are its true goals?

That said, I’m going to avoid the classic “evil AI” trope as much as possible.
Instead, I want to explore more nuanced interpretations — powerful entities with uncertain intent, not just machines turned villains.

What role will resistance movements play in the upcoming arcs?

These movements will serve to show how people naturally react to an artificial order imposed upon them.

Whether they succeed or fail isn’t the central question — it’s more about how human beings respond to extreme conditions, what forms their resistance takes, and what those reactions reveal about human nature.

Are there any plans for factions, companies, or organizations to take center stage?

Yes — several of the companies will take a more central role in the next few books.

They’ve already operated as a kind of silent force in the background, directly or indirectly influencing events.
Each has its own agenda, and their competition for power becomes part of the greater backdrop the story plays out against.

Will the story ever leave Earth or explore off-planet settlements?

Yes — there are definitely plans to leave Earth and explore other regions of the Animus Proxy universe, including space stations, lunar colonies, and more.

Are you planning to introduce new “proxy systems” or evolutions of the identity tech?

Absolutely.

I plan to explore the evolution of this technology — not just in terms of function, but what it means for individual consciousness, and potentially the rise of collective consciousness.

It opens the door to questions about how humanity might redefine its understanding of identity, moving beyond individuality in ways this kind of tech might enable.

Will the emotional tone of the series get darker, more hopeful, or something in between?

I’m going to try to straddle the line between both.

There are serious moments that deserve weight, but I also want to keep things enlightening and fun when it fits.
You don’t want something that’s so dark it becomes overbearing — that’s just not enjoyable.
Balance is key.
