Rogue One: A Star Wars Story debuts heroes played by Yip Man’s Donnie Yen and Chinese Action Film Star Jiang Wen

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story “Trust” from Star Wars

Empire magazine tweeted a picture of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story heroes Baze Malbus and Chirrut Îmwe to the delight of Star Wars fans around the world. The film debuts on December 16, 2016 in North America and is among the most highly anticipated films of the year.

The plot will focus on the Rebels’ plot to steal the blueprints for the infamous Death Star. Of course, Darth Vader will be along for the ride in this flick and will probably be a highlight for longtime fans of the series.

According to Cinema Blend, Baze Malbus and Chirrut Îmwe are a pair of mercenary partners that will function as spiritual polar opposites in the film. Chirrut believes in the Force and the Jedi way, while Baze largely rejects this. Baze seems to have most of the swagger, with a cannon an attitude to match. Also, as expected, he has a deep hatred for the Galactic Empire which currently occupies his home planet of Jedha. In contrast, Chirrut is blind swordsman much in the trope of Japanese cinema. Both are spectacularly badass looking and probably factor into the theft of the Death Star plans quite heavily. As noted earlier, fans of the long running Star Wars films do not have long to wait for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which debuts this December in North America. Rogue One will be the first spin-off film in the Star Wars franchise and as such will be closely watched by fans of the series who hope that the spin-off films not only explore more of the Star Wars universe but also present a more multifaceted perspective, delving into cultures, places, and concepts only lightly discussed in the mainline films. At least that’s what we want :).
