Shy Bairns Get Nowt: Food Poverty in the UK from VICE

Food poverty in the United Kingdom, a documentary from VICE

Filmed in Newcastle, United Kingdom, this VICE documentary follows the voluntary crew of one of the many food banks throughout the United Kingdom that service low-income individuals for whom working poverty has become a fact of daily life. While Great Britain has one of the most robust social services systems in the world, there are those that fall in between the gaps of government services and self-sufficiency. For those, food banks such as this one in Newcastle that distributes free food to over 1,000 people weekly become a much needed link to overcoming the oppressive forces of poverty.
