US Citizen Matthew Miller Sentenced to 6 Years Hard Labor by DPRK Supreme Court

Convicted of espionage against the state, US citizen and Bakersfield, California resident, 24-year-old Matthew Miller was sentenced to six years of hard labor by the Supreme Court of the Democratic Peoples’ Republic of Korea. Miller allegedly destroyed his tourist visa and requested asylum in North Korea upon arrival in Pyongyang. He was arrested and detained for allegedly possessing material about the South Korean military on his iPad.
