Comedian-Actor Robin Williams Dead at 63

Robin Williams, a legend of the comic stage and a star of the silver screen, died today at age 63 following a long battle with depression according to a statement released by his media representative Mara Buxbaum. Williams is survived by his wife Susan Schneider and his children Zelda Rae WilliamsCody Alan Williams, and Zachary Pym Williams.

Williams will always be remembered for his warm and genuine on and off-screen personality as well as his career-defining roles such as Ms. Doubtfire and Mork from the hit sitcom Mork and Mindy.

Many members of my generation grew up with Robin Williams movies and whether the subject was light and fun, such as in his film Jumanji, or of a more serious matter, like his stellar performance in Dead Poets Society, Williams talent for bringing out the human side of a film was undeniable and part of his genius. Many actors have attempted to be so versatile over the course of their careers but few have done what Robin Williams seemingly performed without struggle. Truly a sad day for his fans and the art. Condolences to his family and loved ones. He is simply one of the best.
