We all have chapters in our lives we want to forget and many of these tales are written around this time of the year.

We know what you’re thinking, what a way to begin a “Merry Christmas!” post, but take it in a light-hearted way for the video we bring you on this special day is none other than the epic Bea Arthur SOLO from the Star Wars Holiday Special, aired only once on what was likely a cold day, November 17, 1978.

You see, the true spirit of the holidays is embodied in this watercolor, LSD wash televised train wreck of a Star Wars production for this, in its purest interpretation, is the distillation of the holiday experience.

A mish-mash of ideas, a drugged out looking Carrie Fisher, endless dialogue about nothing yet which proves fertile ground for controversy, these are the elements of a successful holiday and this Star Wars special has it all in spades.

When writing about the abysmal Star Wars Holiday Special, Nathan Rabin of the AV Club wrote, “I’m not convinced the special wasn’t ultimately written and directed by a sentient bag of cocaine.” Indeed. On the bright side, this special introduced Boba Fett who has remained a fan favorite to this day. So, whether it’s the Duck Dynasty fanatic or Eco-terrorist in your family that has you riled up this year, just remember – your life is ever enriched by the craziness of this time of the year. Happy Holidays from Demagaga!
