U.S. Elections 2012: Elizabeth Warren Defeats Incumbent Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown

Democrat Elizabeth Warren unseated incumbent Republican Senator Scott Brown to become Massachusetts’  first female senator in the state’s history. Elizabeth Warren ran as a champion of the people and cited her extensive work with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau throughout the campaign. Scott Brown filled the senate seat left vacant by Ted Kennedy, who died while in office. Retaking this traditionally democrat senate seat was an election objective for the Democrats.
