A food scheme in India implicates various private corporations in the misappropriation of donated food for the poor, particularly mothers and children. A contractor lobby group allegedly created shell groups to bid for contracts to disburse the donated food as part of the Integrated Child Development Scheme. The so-called Maharashtra food scam was quite widespread and profited handsomely off of the ICDS, India’s largest malnutrition welfare program.
