Were the rioters in England mainly from its more impoverished regions?

The Guardian dared to ask this question, and the answer is intriguing in the least. If anything, the riots in London and elsewhere represent a confluence of socio-economic factors as well as technological ones, as documented elsewhere. The intersection of social networking and social mobilization will provide many interesting tensions for governments in the years to come. I hope that we err on the side of progress rather than that of caution.
